10 reasons to buy your Brew at the Zoo tickets – RIGHT NOW!

July 16, 2019

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – to drink beer!

Brew at the Zoo, presented by The Beerwalk and Metro, is the official kick-off event for Silicon Valley Beer Week. Pre-sale tickets are $65, but will go up to $75 at the door (if not sold out.)

1. Enjoy delicious craft beers from 39 local breweries.

Check out the amazing list of breweries that will be there, including:

21st Amendment Brewery, Altamont Beer Works, Alvarado Street Brewery & Tasting Room, Ballast Point: Long Beach, Camino Brewing Company, Clandestine Brewing, Discretion Brewing, Drake’s Brewing Co., DTSJ Brewing, Faultline Brewing Company, Firestone Walker Brewing Co., Floodcraft Brewing Company, Fort Point Beer Company, Ghost Town Brewing, Gilman Brewing Company, Golden State Brewery, Gordon Biersch Brewing Company, Hapa’s Brewing Company, Hermitage Brewing Company, Kelly Brewing Company, Laughing Monk Brewing, Loma Brewing Company, ManyFriends Brewing Company, Modern Times Beer, New Bohemia Brewing Co, North Coast Brewing Company, Original Pattern Brewing Co., Promised Land Brewing Company, Santa Clara Valley Brewing, Seismic Brewing Company, Seven Stills, Shadow Puppet Brewing Company, Sierra Nevada, Six Rivers Brewery, Sonoma Springs Brewing Company, Stone Brewing, Strike Brewing Co., Umunhum Brewing, Uncommon Brewers and Uproar Brewing Company

2. It’s essentially a beer scavenger hunt – at the zoo!

Sure there will be lots of varieties of beer, but first you have to find them. Between breweries you can leap like a lemur on the playground, pet the goats, or follow the crooked bamboo pathway down into the hollow and visit with some of the most amazing animals in the world. The Beerwalk passport will lead you past the stunning jaguar, lemurs, meerkats and more!

Chat with one of our docents or zookeepers – we are always happy to answer questions about the animals and animal care. Happy Hollow is dedicated to helping save species and preserve wildlife for future generations by participating in Species Survival Plan programs through the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

3. Amazing photo opportunities

Whether you are enjoying the sunset as you sip your beer, or going for a ride on your favorite carousel creature in-between breweries, there will be tons of opportunities to snap that perfect profile picture. Don’t forget to use these hashtags #happyhollow #beerwalk and tag @hhpzoo and @thebeerwalk for a chance to be featured on Happy Hollow’s Instagram and Facebook stories.

4. Wild face paint and bio-glitter tattoos

Happy Hollow is all about eco-friendly fun, so add a little extra sparkle to your night by opting for a biodegradable “bio glitter” tattoo. We are also pleased to offer a new style of temporary tattoo made from vegetable ink. Though we don’t recommend licking them.

5. Crooked Meadow = Crooked Beer Garden

The Crooked Meadow will be transformed into a beer garden, featuring local breweries and live music by Sweet HayaH. Sweet HayaH has stolen many hearts in the San Jose and will be premiering some of their new singles live at Brew at the Zoo.

6. Discover the rainforest

Learn about wildlife inside Happy Hollow’s summer-only Jungle Adventure. Meet wildlife ambassadors that cannot be found on exhibit, including a sloth, prehensile-tailed porcupine, lizards, bugs and more! This exhibit is only open until Sunday, August 18 – and this is your opportunity to explore it with just adults.

7. Pub food – served at the Picnic Basket

What’s a beer without some pub eats to go with it? Picnic Basket will be open for business, serving 100% kosher beef hot dogs, fries, pizza, grass-fed beef hamburgers and more! Want to go lighter? Picnic Basket also serves freshly made salads, fruit, and always 100% antibiotic-free chicken.

8. Get buzzed

Okay, so this is a BEER walk, not a mead walk, but you are welcome to try mixing some honey into your beer. Sweeten up that stout with some delicious Gorilla Honey, fresh from the Happy Hollow apiary. In partnership with Willow Glen Honey, sales of honey harvested from Happy Hollow’s apiary support rangers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Virunga National Park, home of the world’s last remaining mountain gorillas.

9. Support the local economy

Did we mention there will be 40 local breweries at this event? Once you’ve decided which beer is your favorite, you may need to go out and purchase more! Don’t forget to buy a glass to enjoy with your future beverage purchases at the Explore & More Store. The gift shop is located at the main entrance to Happy Hollow Park & Zoo.

10. Because it’s beer. At Happy Hollow.

So raise your (sample) glass, because there are very few times the adults get to enjoy the park and zoo with a beer in hand, in a kid-free environment.

We hope to see you there! Click here to BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW!

Please drink responsibly: Designated driver tickets are available and ride sharing is encouraged. Please note that on Friday, July 19, Happy Hollow will close at 4 p.m. for this special 21+ event.
