Fascinated by bees? 

Here’s your opportunity to become a backyard beekeeper!

Steve Demkowski, owner of Willow Glen Honey and resident beekeeper at Happy Hollow Park & Zoo is offering beekeeping workshops throughout the year. The cost is $50 per workshop and 100% of the proceeds goes to pollinator conservation initiatives at Happy Hollow Park & Zoo.

Beekeeping & Beyond Workshops are an opportunity to learn about bees in an intimate, hands-on class setting. Workshops take place at Happy Hollow’s own honey-making apiary & fees are a donation that benefit pollinator conservation efforts. This is a 2-hour, hands-on workshop. Protective equipment is required and you may bring your own or borrow all needed supplies. Each workshop focuses on new skills.

  • Saturdays 1- 3 p.m.
  • Fee per workshop: $45 Members | $50 Non-members
  • Ages 14+
  • 10 participants max

Getting Started with Bees

Spring 2024 workshops will be a general introduction to keeping bees. All skill levels are welcome, and each date will cover different topics, depending on what needs to done in the Happy Hollow apiary.

Beekeeping: Checking for Mites – Saturday, August 17 (Registration opens on Saturday, May 4)
