Happy Hollow Park & Zoo (HHPZ) is a 16 acre amusement park and Association of Zoo's & Aquariums (AZA) accredited zoo located in San José, California. HHPZ is open year-round catering to families with children. It operates seven amusement park rides, showcases various endangered species, and operates one of the oldest classical puppet theaters in California, as well as offering many other playgrounds and attractions emphasizing play and imagination in a natural conservation setting.
 
The PRNS Department is seeking one (1) full-time, benefitted Recreation Specialist in the Parks Division for Happy Hollow Park & Zoo. Under general direction of the Amusement Park Supervisor, the Recreation Specialist position is responsible for managing Happy Hollow Park & Zoo’s Front Gate Department. The Front Gate Department is a comprehensive department, which includes the following programs: Admissions, Group Reservations, Guest Services, Membership, and Park Operations Volunteers. The position regularly works weekends, evenings, and holidays during all climatic conditions as assigned.
 
The position duties include, but are not limited to the following: responsible for extensive staff supervision as well as the operational use of the ticketing/cashiering system, Siriusware. Additionally, the position oversees the Park Operations Volunteers and is also the key person involved with the part- time, seasonal hiring for HHPZ. The Recreation Specialist plays a key role in facilitating multiple key revenue generating programs at HHPZ and is one of the most essential positions on-site to administer the effective management of HHPZ’s daily operations. The position oversees all guest related issues, including selling and processing over 500,000 admissions annually. The Recreation Specialist is responsible for multiple budgets and budget types along with accounting for seasonal fluctuations in attendance.
